A kidney transplant is being planned at the Karnali Province Hospital.

The hospital, which has been in operation for 60 years, has stepped up its preparations for this Saturday’s first human organ transplant.

The Martyr Dharmabhakta National Transplantation Centre, Bhaktapur, and the hospital’s director, Prof. Dr. Dambar Khadka, have come to an agreement in this respect.

Similarly to that, it has been given permission for a kidney transplant. He continued, “The transplantation would be carried out with collaborative efforts of human resources from both hospitals.

The patient will pay Rs. 150000 toward the operation while the government will provide Rs. 700000.

Further information was provided, including the fact that the Karnali Province Hospital was extending the dialyze service, operating seven modular OTs, an ICU, and post-op rooms.

In a similar manner, general surgery is offered four times per week, and orthopedic surgery six times.

99 percent of patients could receive care at the hospital, and only 1 percent needed to be transferred to another facility.

Dr. Khadka, the director, added that an MRI scanner would be installed in the hospital by March.
