Khagaraj Adhikari gets appointed as Gandaki Province CM

Khagaraj Adhikari, the leader of the CPN-parliamentary UML party, has been selected as the Chief Minister of Gandaki province.

In accordance with Article 168 of the Constitution, Prithviman Gurung, chief of Gandaki province, named Adhikari as Gandaki’s chief minister.

In the 60-member Gandaki provincial assembly, the UML leader Adhikari claimed to be the chief minister with the backing of 33 legislators, including 22 from the UML, 8 from the Maoist Center, 2 from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Deepak Manange, an independent politician.

After the ruling coalition allowed the UML to lead the Gandaki province coalition for the whole term, Adhikari filed his claim for Chief Minister on the final day of the application period.
