Nepal vs Sri Lanka: Women’s SAFF next match on Sept. 12

Nepal vs Sri Lanka: On September 12, Nepal will compete against Sri Lanka in the second match of the group stage of the Women’s SAFF Championship.

Nepal began the 6th edition of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship with a 4-0 victory over Bhutan on Tuesday in Kathmandu.

SAFF Championship participants include Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives, and Bhutan.

The seven countries participating are separated into two groups. Group ‘A’ consists of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, while Group B’ consists of Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Nepal.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals of the league cum knockout tournament.

After hosting the fifth edition in Biratnagar, Nepal is hosting the regional tournament for a second consecutive year.

Four times out of five participations, Nepal has finished as runner-up. Previously, it was restricted to the semifinals.

Other than India, no other nation has won the championship title.

Nepal was defeated by India in the finals four times, including the most recent match held in Biratnagar.
