Ranveer Singh‘s first movie in the Hindi film industry was Band Baaja Baaraat, which came out in 2010. Ranveer had done other odd jobs in the movie business before he got the lead role. During his hard times, he, like many others, had some bad things happen to him.
Ranveer told Deadline at the Marrakech International Film Festival that a producer, who has since passed away, once invited him to his house for a meeting and let his dog go after him just for fun. Another time, someone called him to a pretty sketchy place and said they had a part for him in a movie.
Ranveer said, “This guy calls me to this shady place and asks, ‘Are you a hard worker or a smart worker?’ I didn’t think I was very smart, so I said, “I think I work hard.” He was like, ‘Darling, be smart, be sexy’.”
All of these bad things have taught the actor to be thankful for the chances he has now. Ranveer said, “I had all of those kinds of experiences during those three and a half years, and I think that’s what makes me appreciate the chances I have now.”
Ranveer is one of the most popular Bollywood actors right now. He was recently honored at the Marrakech International Film Festival with the prestigious Etoile d’Or award. Ranveer danced to the song “Malhari” from the movie Bajirao Mastani on the first night of the festival.
In the meantime, the actor can’t wait for two movies to come out: Cirkus and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Rohit Shetty is in charge of the comedy Cirkus. Karan Johar is in charge of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which also stars Ali Bhatt.
